7 – 9 August 2017
DIT, in collaboration with UK Government, London agencies and other leading knowledge experts, have put together a unique and exclusive ‘Sports Event Host City Programme’, taking place in London from 7 - 9 August to coincide with the IAAF 2017 Athletics Championships.
The Programme aims to help delegates discover the important role a City plays in the staging of a major sporting event – from planning and delivery to its future impact. Delegates will observe first-hand how London has prepared itself for the staging of another major sporting event, following the success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As well as the formal presentations, there will be plenty of networking opportunities with other host and bid cities; IAAF Observer Programme delegates; and UK companies experienced in working on major sporting events.
The programme will involve venue locations in Central and East London, including on or near the former London 2012 Olympic Park. Transportation will be provided between these locations.
Monday, 7 August to Wednesday, 9 August 2017
The formal Programme will start at 09:30 on Monday at London & Partners (2 More London Riverside, London SE1 2RR) and finish at 17:00 on Wednesday.
The overall Programme will also include an exclusive back-of-house walk-through of the London Stadium, host to the 2017 IAAF World Championships, and a presentation on the operational delivery of the Championships by London 2017.
Sunday, 6 August – additional event offer
For those delegates in London on the morning of Sunday, 6 August, please join us for an informal briefing and Welcome Reception at London & Partners (see above address) from 14:00 - 16:30, where we will be screening coverage of the Women’s Marathon.
