With a population of 5.5 million, Metro Atlanta is the 9th largest metro area in the USA, with a GDP projected to double to $527.3 billion by 2040. It is ranked first in the nation for cost of doing business and as a location for millennials, and third for STEM employment growth.
Metro Atlanta is powered by the headquarters of 16 Fortune 500 companies – household names including Delta Airlines, Coca Cola, UPS and Home Depot – and the strength of more than 13,000 technology companies. Over the past decade, Atlanta companies have raised over $5.5 billion in VC and $116 billion in private equity. The past two years alone has seen Atlanta outpace hotspots such as Austin, San Diego, Research Triangle and Denver for private investment. Those investments have honed in on mobile technology, digital media and content, cyber security, fintech (payments processing), smart grid / IOT and healthcare IT, positioning Atlanta as a nationwide leader in these future economies.
UK companies continue to make Atlanta their U.S. home, attracted by the city’s extremely low cost base, strong R&D infrastructure, and logistics / proximity to the busiest airport in the world – Hartsfield-Jackson International. With most of the U.S. population living in the eastern third of the country, over 80% of U.S. consumers can be reached from Atlanta in two flight hours or two truckload delivery days. As part of the mission, you’ll have an opportunity to engage with global corporates including Worldpay, Sage, Pinewood Studios, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Drax Biomass and Gleeds, through to some of the UK’s fastest-growing SMEs – IMI Mobile, Sword Apak, M&I Materials, Skignz, truRating, TimeOut and iris worldwide.
But what truly sets Atlanta apart is the blend of southern hospitality and business, and the strong culture of collaboration that underpins its innovation ecosystem and women business networks. In conjunction with our partners, we look forward to helping you build bridges with this vibrant community - https://youtu.be/W-OgbGwJ-UU
